Sondra Freckelton Begonia, 1976. Signed, Numbered, Fine Art Print
Color lithograph printed on Rives BFK paper. 21 3/4 x 18 inches / 55.3 x 45.7 cm. Sondra Freckelton was primarily a sculptor until the mid-1970's, when she "fell in love with watercolor" and began painting everyday objects combined with flowers and other plant life. Focusing on the interplay and tensions created between two- and three-dimensional patterns, Freckelton became a major figure in the 1970's movement towards a new realism. She studied both art and horticulture at the School of the Art Institute and the University of Chicago. Freckelton is also known for creating prints, many of which were published by Brooke Alexander, Inc.
Her work has been exhibited in museums, galleries and traveling shows throughout the United States. She has had solo exhibits at major galleries in New York, Chicago, Washington, D.
Various public and corporate collections include her paintings. She also teaches watercolor workshops and judges art competitions.
